To me, pursuing excellence means working at all aspects of life including physical, personal, emotional and social to be the best you can be.
Physical activity and sports have always been a huge part of my life. They taught me how to set goals, work hard, stay motivated, and persevere when things get tough. Because of those thing, I was fortunate enough to compete nationally and internationally in sprint kayaking. In university I decided to follow my passion for learning about the body and how it reacted under the stress of physical activity and completed an honours degree in kinesiology at Dalhousie. I graduated in 2013 and immediately began working as a coach and personal trainer. In May 2018 I made the transition to Blended Athletics where I couldn’t be happier! The team and community here are amazing and make coming to work everyday fun, challenging and enjoyable.
My philosophy for training is that it should be fun and functional. There’s nothing I enjoy more than being part of someone’s journey as they grow to love the gym and their workouts. I believe everyone can benefit and most importantly enjoy working out once they’ve found the right environment for them. If you’re looking for a challenging yet fun environment look no further!

Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would say yes to going to the gym three times a week.
- Barry Arsenault
Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would say yes to going to the gym three times a week. In my younger years I used to be active with sports and outdoor activities, but as the years drifted by and life slowed down so did the activities. Then one day, for no apparent reason, I found myself in some trouble. That is when I met Maggie. Sometimes I tell people “maggie saved my life”. On gym days she is always there with a smile and a professional attitude ready to get to work. With her background in sports and training she really knows how to keep you moving, which has always been my goal. For anyone wanting to improve their overall fitness or foe those heading into their ‘golden years’ that want to keep doing the things they love in life I would highly recommend Maggie as a personal trainer.

Pursuing excellence is setting personal goals with regards to your work life, social life, your community life and not letting anything obstruct you from obtaining those goals. Pursuing excellence also has to mean practicing your new and old habits and leading others to do the same.
Jerret puts an early emphasis on mobility drills and unilateral exercises to develop a stable foundation for the long term athletic development towards greater body control, speed, and power production.
Pursuing excellence means doing the small things right. Day in and day out. The quote “how you do anything is how you do everything” sums it up well for me. Excellence is not something that you turn on and off depending on the task. Good enough’ is never good enough!
I am a strength and conditioning coach with a background in martial arts and board sports (skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing). Because of this background I am quite fond of rotational and balance exercises. I enjoy working with older adults and I firmly believe it is never too late to start working on your fitness.
For me, pursuing excellence is an ongoing, day by day, moment by moment endeavour. I frequently ask myself the question; am I working out of my highest ideals right now or being the best version of myself?
